It’s been a while since we’ve posted (thanks for your patience!), but we’re gearing up for a fall full of amazing weddings! (We’ve got some cool personal stuff we want to post too, so check back soon and often! 🙂 We’re starting out today with Angela & Webster, who enjoyed fantastic weather out at Veritas Vineyards recently. While it started out threatening to rain, the skies broke just in time to reveal gorgeous afternoon sunlight. But first things first…when we first met, we gathered at Richmond’s Maymont Park for a fall engagement session with follow-up chat at a local coffee shop to talk about their wedding and how we could help. We were thrilled when they decided to commission us, as we knew we’d be having an incredible time with them, given how much fun we had already had at their engagement session. We also had a wonderful time doing Angela’s bridal session and already posted a few of our faves from that.
They had opted to see each other as the ceremony began, so Webster hung out with his groomsmen downstairs in the cellar while Angela was upstairs with windows overlooking the ceremony site. They had selected some nice personal touches for their ceremony, and also had quite a few children present, including their neice and nephew who served as flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Given that, there were some great moments of kids being, well…kids. It was awesome! Our good friend Rob Garland showed up that afternoon to help out as well, and has been an avid kids photographer so he was in absolute heaven (thanks, Rob!)
Cocktail hour was enjoyed by their guests who were treated to a custom-made pink drink designed by Webster’s brother, a NY bartender. It was appropriately named The Good Doctor and with its combination of gin and blackberries, was a big hit with the masses. After we finished their portraits out among the vines, everyone gathered inside for dinner. Sheila from the Event Company had done an amazing job of designing the table layouts, down to each last detail as well as gorgeous flowers from Pat’s Floral Designs and awesome lighting courtesy of The AV Company, and safe to say, Veritas looked amazing. Jessica had stopped by to help out Sheila, so it was great seeing them both–they’re both amazing planners and of course kept everything that evening running smoothly.
Just prior to dinner, all listened to a warm welcome by Angela’s dad and a funny one by Webster’s mom. She explained how Webster, at a very early age, would endear himself to her by proclaiming his allegiance to marrying her. Then, slowly as he grew up, it would be that he would always live in the same house with her, then promise to live down the street, which turned into visiting regularly, etc., much to the laughter of the assembled guests.
The band, Jangling Reinharts (our local fave!) got the dancing started with the first dance and parent dances, and it was the first time we had heard Rainbow Connection (remember that from the Muppets?) sung by a band at a wedding, not to mention during the mother-son dance. It’s not hard to believe then that Webster’s mom shed a few tears during theirs.
After their cake cutting (an incredibly tasty one made by Terri Edwards of Cakes Unlimited), everyone continued dancing until sadly, it was time to go. Everyone headed outside for a sparkler send-off for Angela and Webster and their honeymoon in Bora Bora. Congratulations, you two! We’re thrilled to have been a part of your incredible celebration!
