Fresh cupcakes from Magnolia Cafe were a big hit at Meghan & Matthew’s recent blast wedding at The Homestead this fall, we dare say almost as big as the couple, but not quite. 😉 We continued a brief spate of rainy days this particular Saturday and ended up in the grand ballroom’s gorgeous glass-lined foyer for their ceremony. Meghan had a bagpiper regale the guests as they entered the foyer. Wearing a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown, Meghan entered with her dad at her side as Matthew watched from the front, his eyes welling with emotion. Their Irish officiant offered up a stirring homily about the things that are really important in a marriage, encouraging their guests to reflect upon their own relationships.
Their guests were also delighted at some of the props they found for the reception festivities later that evening! After a welcome by Meghan’s dad and hilarious post-dinner toast by Matthew’s little brother, DJ Bill Gillipsie got the crowd going in a big way. Meghan and Matthew had arranged for blow-up microphones and other implements which were scattered throughout the Crystal ballroom. They were all picked up by enthusiastic guests, singing into the faux mics and generally having a great time with it. Meghan and her dad even put on a West Side Story-like routine for the cheering crowd, with Matthew up in front with a big grin on his face.
Meghan’s grandma had decided early on in her own marriage that her wedding dress should be celebrated not just that one day decades ago, but each year on her anniversary. Her sense of fashion helped inspire Meghan to join the industry and move to NY early to begin her career there. The cupcakes were certainly a nod to the town that held their hearts and, along with the copious candy bar directly across from the cupcakes (how to choose? such a dilemma), the sweet tooth of each of their friends and family were easily sated that evening.
