Tori & Nick’s Wedding Featured in Southern Living Magazine

Tori & Nick’s Wedding Featured in Southern Living Magazine

Call it the perfect fit. You likely recall Tori & Nick’s gorgeous and colorful Keswick Hall wedding from this past Spring (album pics coming soon!). After their wedding, we were talking with the editors at Southern Living Weddings magazine, who fell in love with the couple (how could you not?) and the decor from their event. They just featured the happy couple’s wedding in their latest issue, and is now on newsstands everywhere, so go get yourselves a copy. Congratulations, Tori & Nick, on publication!

New Look, New Website, New Blog…Finally!

New Look, New Website, New Blog…Finally!

So you may have noticed something looks different around here. Did we get a new haircut? No. Did we lose weight? Ha, we wish! No, but aren’t you sweet to ask. Did you redecorate? Why, yes. Yes, we did.

We can’t tell you how excited we are to be writing this entry today – that our long-awaited new website (at least in our minds, it felt very long) and blog are finally done. It was a long process, longer than we would have liked of course, but we’re absolutely thrilled that not only is it live, but that we LOVE it!

In the coming weeks we look forward to sharing some of the inspiration and background for the new looks, but today we wanted to give a shout out to everyone that helped make this new site a reality. It really does take a village. 😉

Thanks so much to the incredible photographers who took many of the photos of us that you see in the Meet A&B sectionBen & Erin Chrisman, Katrina Wallace & Andrew Meija, James & Meridith Walters, and Jennifer Domenick. We are so honored to call you all friends and we SO enjoyed being “shot” by you all. Truly, you all made it so easy for us to come over to the other side of the lens and are excited to share some of our favorites that you took of us over the years. (This fun cupcake smashing photo is from our session with Ben & Erin in Austin earlier this year and we can’t wait to share more of their fantastic work from that day (& evening!) very soon.)

We’re also thankful to the talented wedding planners with whom we’ve gotten to work with on some of our favorite weddings over the years. Thank you to our wonderful colleagues, Jamie Sears, Pam Barefoot, Jodi Moraru, Windy Jennings, Easton Events and The Event Company for your inspiration and incredible hard work. We are honored to feature your work here, as well.

We also want to thank Love Jenna for taking our dream for our logo and making it a reality. You were absolutely worth waiting for! We so enjoyed working with you and look forward to collaborating on future projects together. Matt Thomas, your eye for design is unparalleled – thank you for also taking the crazy little seed idea we had and making it grow. Literally! Your professionalism, responsiveness and attention to detail was greatly appreciated and we can’t recommend you highly enough. We seriously could (and sometimes do…shhhh) watch that tree grow and the initials carved all day!

Ross and your team at Flosites worked tirelessly to get us live by our target date – thank you! We’re really thrilled with how everything turned out. And Blake, you know we just love you and Lilywillow Press— Mama & Papa Lilywillow, included! We’ve very much enjoyed our partnership over the years and sometimes we wonder if you know us better than we know ourselves. Thanks for tireless work and cheerful attitude when working with two perfectionists. Okay, semi-control freaks. Okay, control freaks. 😉

Lastly, but certainly not least, we want to thank all our wonderful clients throughout the years whom we’ve gotten to know and gotten to be part of such an important time in their lives. We’re so touched to call many of you friends. Huge thanks to the couples whose weddings we chose for the portfolio galleries. It was painfully hard to choose and in the end simply wanted to show a wide variety of work. Thank you to A&J, A&B, C&A, C&C, J&J, K&M, K&B, L&E, M&J, and T&N for inviting us into your lives and allowing us to capture and share your beautiful weddings. Simply put, you guys rock.

Our goal for you, dear reader, was to include several recent weddings showing a wide range of venues and budgets. We’ve broken down the galleries into People, Places, and Things to achieve that. In Places, we wanted to highlight vineyards, inns, historic mansions, ballrooms…you name it…venues as varied as the people choosing to marry there. We hope it helps inspire as you continue your planning.

It was also important to us to include all the dedicated professionals who worked together as a team to create such a perfect day for our happy couples shown in People. So for each featured wedding gallery, you’ll find a complete list of the talent in Resources.

We trust you’ve enjoyed poking around a bit and we hope to share some of the inspiration for the site and refreshed logo design in the coming weeks, as well as some behind the scenes.

We Love Junebug Weddings

We Love Junebug Weddings

Ok, could we be any more thrilled to have been featured by the talented folks at Junebug Weddings? No, pretty sure we couldn’t. It was so nice chatting on the phone with Blair and corresponding with her and Christy about the interview. Thanks, you two, for all your hard work! It’s a fantastic interview, and dear readers, we hope you enjoy it all.

A Love Note…

We just received the nicest note from one of our bride’s moms, with whom we’ve kept in touch over the past year after their wedding. It touched us so much, and just wanted to share.

I was just looking at the bride who wore her Mom’s dress, it was gorgeous. We were away this weekend for a wedding, the couple and his parents were at [bride’s] wedding last summer and we were thinking of both of you at the wedding. We mentioned how we barely knew someone was photographing everything, you did such a great job.

We noticed this past weekend how the photographer was in the middle of everything, even walked down the center aisle of the church during the ceremony at an awkward time.  You both are so talented, so sweet and a pleasure to work with. I know we will cherish our photos and memories even more as the years go by.  I show them to everyone and everyone says they have never seen such gorgeous photos.  I can’t believe it is just about a year. Being in the islands with all the kids at a fun wedding reminded us all of the special day last July.  Thanks again for the beautiful photos and I love seeing the photos and weddings you are doing this season.

We can’t thank you enough for your note and for your timing! In the middle of wedding season, when it can be too easy to feel bogged down with all the non-wedding day tasks that fill our days, receiving a love note like this brings us such joy and reinvigorates our spirits as much as a Bermuda vacation. We’re reminded just how lucky we are that we get to be a part of family history and that our work can touch in ways we can’t even imagine. But we shouldn’t be surprised; we’re touched each and every weekend bearing witness to one of sweetest days in a couple’s lives and the mix of emotions flowing through their parents’ hearts as they watch them enter this new chapter in their lives. If we can capture even just one of those fleeting moments for posterity, we’ve done our job. Thank you for reminding us what’s really important.

Abbie & Jeremy Featured in Wedding Planner Magazine

We’re very lucky, here in Charlottesville, to have a quality publication created to assist those planning a wedding in the city or one of our many beautiful surrounding counties, in Wedding Planner magazine. This is the third issue, and we are thrilled to once again have one of our favorite summer weddings featured in its pages. Abbie and Jeremy, planned a fun and whimsical 4th of July celebration last year at the lovely and popular King Family Vineyard that featured sunny florals by Pat’s Floral Designs, farm-to-table cuisine from Harvest Moon, short & sweet dresses from J.Crew, some DIY fireworks graphics and Vineyard Vines ties for the gents – especially fitting, don’t you think? Pick up a copy if for nothing else than to read their wild proposal story. We’re pretty certain it’s sure to be optioned for the movies any day now. The issues are free for the taking at a variety of area hot spots, so there’s really no excuse.

Oh, and come back next week, as we celebrate Abbie & Jeremy’s first anniversary with them!

Saying Yes to the Dress!

It turns out that in addition to being gorgeous, fun, loving people, our clients are multi-talented! As you’ve probably seen on newsstands (and from last Friday’s post), the latest and greatest issue of Washingtonian Bride and Groom has dropped. And as usual, it’s full of eye candy. So what other goodies can you expect to read inside? Why, how about a wonderfully-written, touching article on Liz’s wedding dress, which also happened to have been the same one her mother wore on her wedding day. This article is by itself worth the magazine’s price. Seriously.

Oh, and her bea-u-ti-ful bouquet and his dashing bout are by the immensely talented Shawn Cossette of Beehive Events!

A Little Love in Washingtonian Bride and Groom!

You’ve probably already picked up a copy, and if not, you really,  really should, of the new issue of Washingtonian Bride and Groom magazine. We’re so happy to have not just one, but two of our fabulous couples featured in this gorgeous issue! Both Nikki and Josh, and Maya and Josh (wild coincidence, huh?) had such beautiful, whimsical and fun parties, how could they not be included? But, we’re so honored and thrilled to be able to contribute alongside some of the best in our local wedding industry.

Thanks so much to our couples for throwing such great celebrations, to their talented planners (ATrendy Wedding for Nikki and Josh, and Simply Chic Events for Maya & Josh), as well as their other incredible vendors who all came together to make the most perfect day for the happy couples and last, but certainly not least, to Jill and her team at Washingtonian for the inclusion. Congratulations to all of our friends and colleagues who were included and most importantly to m&j and n&j!! We love you guys!

Oh, and be sure to check out the blog next week as we highlight an article in the current issue that another one of our sweet brides penned!

Liz & Jon Featured on District Weddings

We were delighted when Danielle wrote to let us know Liz and Jon‘s incredible National Museum for Women in the Arts wedding was to be featured on her District Weddings blog. So many professionals did a wonderful job with the wedding, and of course we couldn’t have captured the day without compelling moments from Liz and Jon and their families. Thanks, Danielle, for highlighting their wedding! It’s such a great fit for the blog.

Maya & Josh Featured on Junebug Weddings

We couldn’t be more delighted today for Maya & Josh, whose wedding was featured in all its glory by the fabulous Junebug Weddings in their cleverly-named What Junebug Loves blog (well hey, we love you guys too!). Go check it out. Thanks again not only to Maya & Josh for creating such compelling moments for us to capture, in addition to the entire team helping put their wedding together, most notably Jamie Sears of Simply Chic Events. And of course thanks to Christy and Blair of Junebug Weddings for their love and clearly superior taste. 🙂

Just a snippet of what you’ll see when you look through the feature.
