Can we be any happier that our clients provide the greatest moments and most exquisite details for us to photograph? I think not! We entered several of our favorite images taken over the past few months to the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers‘s quarterly contest, and came back with some big wins, and the Photographer of the Quarter designation thanks in part to all of you! As for those clients whose wedding is coming up soon, all we can do is congratulate you on your good taste 😉 and say that we can’t wait to document your wedding! Whew!

Marcie & Garrett’s fabulous wedding just got highlighted on the uber-useful and increasingly popular Style Me Pretty blog today, in three parts (1, 2, and 3). We couldn’t be more thrilled! Not only were the couple laid back and happy, the planning and gorgeous details really helped make this a wedding to remember. Thanks to all who put together such a fantastic wedding for us to document, in particular Pam Barefoot of ATrendy Wedding, and for Abby for choosing the wedding to show off on her blog. We can’t wait to see what’s next! We were thrilled some time ago when Abby and her colleague Michelle contacted us, letting us know they would like to include us in their Little Black Book of chosen wedding professionals. We’ve got some great company!

We’re happy to announce that Weddings Unveiled just hit the newsstands with another of our recent weddings, this one from this past fall, Alina & Justin, who married at Justin’s mom’s home near Richmond, Virginia. They had such incredible details and lots of wonderful moments, perfect for a magazine feature. Holland Photo Arts brides–check it out if you’re interested in some great ideas for your own fall wedding. We’re so happy for you guys, Alina & Justin–congratulations!

One of our favorite wedding magazines, Weddings Unveiled, chose a fantastic fall wedding from 2007, Katharine & Saad’s, to feature in their spring issue this year! We couldn’t be more thrilled or more happy for Katharine & Saad, who not coincidentally made an incredibly beautiful and fun wedding for themselves and their guests. Check out the magazine on newsstands now. It’s primarily geared toward the southeastern part of the US so our DC clients may have to pick up a copy in Richmond or Charlottesville. Hey, it’s a great excuse for a day trip, right?

A new magazine, called Soirée, is now being distributed throughout central Virginia. Complete with ideas and details, it’s a great companion to other magazines you’ll find at newsstands. We were thrilled to have one of our images, from Nicole & Ashley’s wedding, to make it on the cover of their inaugural issue. We hope you find it useful in your planning!

I’m so thrilled to announce that one of Bill’s images that he captured at Meryl & Peter’s wedding this past fall has won best of category (receptions) in Photo District News, one of the top pro photography magazines! Their annual contest featured some wonderful material from photographers around the world (view the complete gallery), and we’re just so pleased to have a Holland Photo Arts image chosen from those entered. A special thanks go out to Meryl & Peter who provided the moment for us to capture for them. You can pick up the magazine at newsstands now.

Congratulations to Laura & Derik, who got some ink in the most recent issue of Brides Washington magazine. Their editor chose Laura & Derik’s summer wedding from this past year to highlight in its issue for its easy-going feel and recipe for guest delight. Their wedding was the epitome of great and subtle moments, and quite literally kept smiles on our faces all day long. Pick it up on newsstands near you (those of you near Baltimore–lucky you–the wedding is also featured in Brides Maryland), so you get twice the fun.

Tessie & Matt, whose wedding we documented this past February (check out the blog below for images from their fantastic wedding) just got a feature news story in their local TV market highlighting their custom metalworking shop. Check out the video here. Congrats, guys!

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of meeting Mary and Shawn out for lunch to discuss their upcoming wedding plans. Anne and I have been friends with Shawn’s dad Graydon and his wife Michelle for many years so we were doubly thrilled when Mary and Shawn contacted us to photograph their November wedding. We had a great time with them both; they are truly kindred spirits and we couldn’t be more happy that they found each other.. Mary sent us an ultra-cool note the next day, and she gave us permission to share a little bit of it with you.

One of our dear friends Amy Deputy a couple of years ago coined the term “love junkie” to her fellow wedding photographers, and we thought it was so fitting, and shared it with Shawn & Mary. Just so much fun. We’re so lucky to get to do what we do and with whom we do it. It’s an awesome, awesome job.

Those in the Washington DC area recently found on area magazine shelves the latest issue of My Day magazine, featuring one of our most laid-back and fun-loving couples yet! Nicole & Ashley had their wedding highlighted in the pages of the latest magazine, and it was cool to see it there. Our thanks to John, publisher of the magazine, for selecting their wedding at Veritas Vineyards, and to Nicole & Ashley, who provided such excellent photographic opportunities for Anne and I to capture the day’s moments and details! You guys rock!

The magazine also did a very nice feature interview with Anne and myself. If you’re looking for a local wedding magazine to inspire you in your own wedding planning, we can highly recommend the gorgeous My Day!
