Tricia & Ian’s Boulder Foothills Engagement Session

Tricia & Ian’s Boulder Foothills Engagement Session

One of the best parts about living in Boulder is when you get up early, you’re awarded with sundrenched foothills at the base of the Rocky Mountains. So it seemed apropos to meet up with Tricia & Ian for their engagement session down by the Homestead Trail just south of Boulder. It was a wonderfully cool morning in early August and afterward a healthy, but not too healthy hike, we headed down to Golden to meet up with their horse, Bear. Beautiful. Just a gorgeous and friendly horse.

We loved spending the morning with all of them and cannot wait for their wedding next October back in Virginia! We’ll let the scenery speak for itself, although T&I almost upstaged it. Don’t believe us? See for yourselves below. Below are just a few of our favorite images from their engagement portraits – it was so hard to narrow them down. Want more? See their complete gallery here. The password is Tricia’s maiden name.

Engaged! with Katie & Crispin at Columbia Country Club

Engaged! with Katie & Crispin at Columbia Country Club

There’s something special about doing an engagement portrait session at the site of a couple’s proposal. Meeting Katie & Crispin at Columbia Country Club in suburban Washington, DC gave us such an opportunity. The first frame below, actually, shows where Crispin bent on one knee to ask, “Will you marry me?” We’re excited to photograph their wedding this Fall but in the meantime here are a few of our favorites from the session. Want more? The entire engagement session is here. The password is Katie’s last name and is case-sensitive. Enjoy!

Tori & Skyler’s Reston VA Engagement Session

Tori & Skyler’s Reston VA Engagement Session

When we were back in DC for Megan & Misha’s engagement session, we had some downtime waiting for the weather to cooperate, so we were able to meet up with Tori & Skyler whose super chic, fabulous farm wedding is coming up later this month! Before meeting for a fantastic brunch one morning at Ted’s Bulletin, we just had to get a few shots of the happy couple around the Reston Town Center. We have so enjoyed getting to know this delightful couple over the past several months and it can’t be overstated how much we’re excited to be a part of their Charlottesville wedding. Not only do we look forward to getting to come back to our beloved C’ville during the Fall, but the beautiful bride’s sister just happens to be a dear, dear friend of ours. Oh, and she’s also a wedding planner extraordinaire. So there’s that. Yea!

T&S, we had such a great time traipsing around RTC with you both! Thanks so much for an delectable (and filling!) brunch, too. The pop tarts survived just fine until we were hungry enough to enjoy them and they were de-licious! See you in a few short weeks! In the meantime, here’s the entire engagement photo gallery. The password’s Tori’s maiden name and is case-sensitive.

Lindsey & Rob’s Boulder County Fair Engagement Session

Lindsey & Rob’s Boulder County Fair Engagement Session

Here in sunny Colorado, we have (almost) an embarrassment of riches: So many great spots where couples can get their engagement on so to speak. Since Denver-based Lindsey & Rob went to CU, we knew we had to start out our afternoon session on the campus since they wanted their engagement photos to be in Boulder.

It’s a beautiful campus and for being in the heart of Boulder, quite quiet and serene, especially since the students weren’t yet back in town! Then since we were all in a festive mood and hungry for some kettle corn and cotton candy (you can always count on cotton candy!) we all headed over to the Boulder County Fair up in Longmont. It did not disappoint. Well, except for the kettle corn (missing for some terrible reason). It was a an absolutely beautiful day and and even more gorgeous twilight, giving us quite a colorful backdrop. And you can’t leave a fair without riding the mechanical bull can you? Alas, only Rob was brave enough to take on the bucking beast and was this close to taming it before the bull finally declared his victory. Check out their complete gallery here. The password is Lindsey’s maiden name and is case-sensitive.

L&R, we had such a FUN time with you both and absolutely can’t wait for your September wedding up in Steamboat Springs!

Engaged! with Sarah & Max at Vail Resort

Engaged! with Sarah & Max at Vail Resort

We recently found ourselves once again atop Vail Mountain (one of Bill’s favorite places in CO so far) for an engagement session with Sarah & Max, whose Fall wedding we’re shooting back in Washington, DC. Vail holds a very special place in their heart as it’s where they had their first date and they continue to spend many weekends there in the Winter skiing. We could think of worse places.

While the weather seemed at first to be threatening, we held out and got some amazing skies in return. (You may remember almost a year ago, we photographed Joy & Jerry’s renewal up there and had some wacky weather, as well!) We stayed atop near the wedding deck for a few portraits before descending in the gondola for a few more around the village and ending the evening with a nice long dinner together filled with many great stories. (They even brought their adorable dog Tanner for a couple of shots. Seriously, this is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve met in a while and almost convinced Anne that we needed to add to our fur family. Callie the Cat on the other hand, would most certainly not be pleased if we did.) We weren’t done yet, though as we knew we had to get some nighttime shots under the gorgeous cafe lights in the Village outside their hotel – the stunning Arrabelle.  Max especially was such a trouper since he had an early morning flight to Iceland for his bachelor party and both he and Sarah were driving all the way back to Denver that very night. Thankfully we only had to go as far as Boulder and I-70 at night isn’t nearly as scary in the Summer than it is in the Winter! Ask us about a trip up there this past March over a beer (actually maybe three) sometime.

We’re soooooo looking forward to this stylish couple’s Mellon Auditorium wedding in a couple of months, and can’t wait to share more with you from that afterward. We already know their wedding weekend is going to be seriously stunning and a lot of fun to boot. Enjoy the complete gallery here, and the password is Sarah’s maiden name.

Engaged! in Boulder with Laura & Gavin

Engaged! in Boulder with Laura & Gavin

Our first engagement of spring was with Gavin and Laura, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We’ve known Laura since early last year when we were first considering a move to Boulder. As a Realtor with Chad St. Onge she helped us find just the right place for us being new to the city. We can’t wait to document their wedding next month up in Lyons too, but in the meantime we’re happy sharing a few favorite images from their engagement session, done up at Castle Rock Trailhead here in Boulder.  Gorgeous scenery, as you can well imagine, and it didn’t hurt that the couple was up for anything and everything, including scrambling up rock faces for just the right pose. Want to see more? Their entire engagement session can be found here. The password is Laura’s maiden name and is case-sensitive.

Engaged! with Kate & Andrew

Engaged! with Kate & Andrew

We’re so looking forward to Kate and Andrew’s wedding next Summer at Clifton Inn, especially after meeting and spending the evening with them recently for their Love Session held around historic Georgetown and at their Arlington home, followed by dinner at one of our favorite area haunts, Screwtop Wine Bar (hi Wendy!). We loved meeting them and spending time with their pet rabbits (seriously cute little critters) and have posted all the evening’s festive imagery on their personal gallery. The password is Kate’s last name and is case sensitive. Have fun!

Engaged! with Kaitlyn & Mark

Engaged! with Kaitlyn & Mark

It’s hard to argue with good light, an easy-going couple, and an eager and loving dog. Such was Kaityn & Mark’s Love Session, which we shot just north of National Airport at Gravelly Point Park with follow-on dinner out. Kaitlyn & Mark are so relaxed and trusting, we had a great time with them. Here are just a few of our favorites from that recent evening, and you can of course view the entire gallery here. The password is Kaitlyn’s maiden name and is case-sensitive. Enjoy!

Wyatt, when encouraged to have a seat, felt it better to sit on Kaitlyn’s knee. Dogs. Ha!

Engaged! with Misty & Roby

Engaged! with Misty & Roby

We really enjoy visiting our clients at their stomping grounds, because it’s a place near and dear to their hearts and where they obviously spend a lot of their time. So we were pretty excited to be invited up to Cambridge, Massachusetts to spend some time with Misty & Roby. Not only did we get to do a little shooting around their law school and at Harvard Square, they treated us to some amazingly decadent hot chocolate and we treated them to a nice relaxing dinner together. Here are just a few of our favorite images from the afternoon and evening’s Love Session we had with them, and we hope you enjoy them as well. There’s also their complete gallery with all of the shots, and the password is Misty’s last name (and is case-sensitive). Enjoy!

What fun we had with you guys–we hardly noticed the biting wind that reminded us that even thought the calendar said it was Spring, we were in Boston. You didn’t either, right? ;-D We seriously can’t wait for your wedding this Summer in DC! Pretty sure we won’t need the hot chocolate then.

Engaged! with Lauren & Chas

Engaged! with Lauren & Chas

We’ve got a special treat for you today! While home in Virginia recently, we got together with Lauren & Chas, whose wedding we’ll be documenting next year, out at Carter Mountain Orchard for their love session, followed by brunch and maybe a little imbibing at West Main’s bar. The weather could not have been better – started out quite chilly, but soon became a lovely Fall day. And we got to pick some Pink Ladies – Anne’s (& Laurens!) favorite type of apple. We had a blast, and can’t wait for their wedding! Does Lauren not have the brightest, most engaging smile? You can see the entire gallery here, and the password is Lauren’s last name.

He proposed by putting her ring in a glass of her favorite beer!

Congratulations, l&c! We’re so looking forward to your wedding next October!

Engaged! with Amrita & Hrishi

Engaged! with Amrita & Hrishi

You know we had it rough when we showed up at our favorite local accommodations, Clifton Inn, to find this gorgeous, sweet-as-pie couple named Amrita & Hrishi, there for the start of their Love Session with us. They’re marrying on the beach in Hawaii next Spring and wanted to get some engagement portraits done a little closer to home. In addition to creating some fun portraits with them, we went to a local bookstore and of course Mudhouse for some rich hot chocolate to dispel the evening’s chill and maybe play a little chess as well. We had a great time with them both, and there’s more where this came from in their personal gallery. The password is Amrita’s last name and is case-sensitive. Enjoy, and have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Engaged! with Margaret & Bryon

Engaged! with Margaret & Bryon

Next week we’ve got some brand new albums to share with you, but today we’re concluding our recent series of engagement sessions with Margaret & Bryon, who tie the knot later this year in Annapolis. But first, it was time to do some early-morning (read: o’dark thirty) portraits of the two of them around the Tidal Basin in the nation’s capital. Try as we might to predict the perfect day for peak cherry blossom bloom, many of the flowers had, thanks to the winter’s hasty departure, already blown away. Undeterred, m&b took it all in stride and we still got some pretty rockin’ portraits with the two of them, having a great time in the process. Thankfully, the monuments don’t move or blow away and as you’ll see, we were rewarded with simply spectacular sunrise. Thanks too, to Margaret’s mom Cynthia who braved the morning chill to carry warm jackets and offer a cheering section while her daughter was busy looking fabulous. We had a blast, you two, and can’t wait for your wedding!

Want more than just these few of our absolute favorites? Then check out their personal gallery here. The password is Margaret’s maiden name and is case-sensitive.

We found a few that were still on a tree!

But lots more on the ground, so we made the most of it. 🙂

Congratulations, m&b! Thanks so much for such a fun morning!

Cheers,

Engaged! with Shay & Travis

Engaged! with Shay & Travis

We’ve been really quite lucky with the weather this Spring, and aside from the cherry blossoms having nearly been all blown away by the time we could shoot an engagement session (coming up soon, with Margaret & Bryon), it’s been really wonderful. Shay and Travis arrived in town recently to take care of some on-the-ground items and visit picturesque Veritas Vineyards for the first time prior to their destination wedding here in Charlottesville. It was so nice meeting up and spending some time together. Aside from it being a little breezy that day (ok, maybe a lot breezy-thank you, March), their engagement session downtown and on the UVa Grounds was a blast. Here are some of our favorites from the day, and you can view the complete gallery here. As you can see, these two had such great style and chemistry with a capital C!

Thanks so much, you two and we are so looking forward to your wedding later this year!

Cheers,
