Lauren & Chas’s Wedding at Fat Cat Farm

Lauren & Chas’s Wedding at Fat Cat Farm

Among the very last of our weddings this year was Lauren & Chas’s, who enjoyed an emotional and incredibly sweet ceremony officiated by Lauren’s childhood minister. We had been looking forward to their wedding ever since we shot their Love Session last Fall, and so throughly enjoyed ourselves that entire day! What a sweet (& kissy) couple. Don’t believe us? Well, see for yourselves! Oh, and then check out their online gallery. The password is Lauren’s maiden name and is case-sensitive.

Dear Lauren & Chas,

Some of our favorite moments from your wedding day include:

Your kind words about us and our marriage being an inspiration for all couples on their wedding day. Lauren, your easy laugh and how your radiant smile could brighten a cloudy day. Your stolen kisses. How overcome with emotion you both became during your personal vows. Chas, the overwhelming look of pride on your dad’s face as he hugged you after your ceremony. Lauren, the broad smile on your dad’s face…all night long. Your delicious pies! Not really a moment there, but having a bite definitely was. All the boot kickin’ on the dance floor. That hug when you first saw each other that day; it was as if you’d never separate. Awesome.

Congratulations, you two!

Dear a&g,

A few of our favorite moments from your wedding day include:

Your first sight! The strong emotional bond you have with one another was so incredibly clear to us. Alicia, when your family stood up in recognition and memory of your father, and toasted you. The never-ending conga line! Grateful that watermelons were still in season, even if they were a bit grubby-looking. That quiet moment you shared just before your announcement into your reception, and then your guest’s uproar of love and affection once you walked into the room. Your theatrical expression of “yes!” upon successfully cutting your cake. Gio, that look over your shoulder you gave just after dipping Alicia at the end of your first dance together. Words can’t describe the emotion in that look.

Congratulations, you two! It’s been such a pleasure getting to know you both and we’re so excited for you & your new adventures as Mr. & Mrs.!

Jessi & Joey’s Wedding at Monumental Church and Virginia Historical Society

Jessi & Joey’s Wedding at Monumental Church and Virginia Historical Society

Today we get to celebrate the wedding of the casually lovely and totally relaxed high school sweethearts, Jessi & Joey. You probably remember them from their engagement portraits we did with them earlier this Summer. As luck would have it, their wedding day fell on one of the hottest, stickiest days yet this summer – actual temp was something like 104(!), but we had a blast with these two. Granted it was like the hot blast you get when you open your oven door and it’s set to 500, but it was a blast none the less.

Enjoy a few of our favorites from the day, and when you’re ready, check out all their wedding images found here. The password is Jessi’s maiden name and is case-sensitive.

Bill’s fave photos of Anne’s:

(We’ve documented hundreds of weddings, and if there’s one thing that will choke us up to this day, it’s watching a father and his daughter on her wedding day. Gets. Us. Everytime.)

Bill actually took this one below, but it was Anne’s idea, so I gotta give her the props!

Anne’s fave photos of Bill’s:

Nothing beats good light! And we had it in spades.

Call me maybe?

And of course some lovely details from the day:

Goes to show that tequila and weddings do indeed mix…

Dear j&j,

There’s something to be said for wearing the ring that’s been worn in your family for five generations. That’s a commitment not only to the person you love deeply, but to the tradition surrounding the ring. That the two of you took all of this in stride, with respect, honor, and of course humor on your wedding day was emblematic of your relationship. As for the relationships with your families. Joey, we absolutely adored that fact that you had your little brother serve as your best man. His toast that night to his big brother and sister-in-law was one of the sweetest we’ve ever witnessed. Jessi, including lost loved ones photo charms on your bouquet showed just how deep your family ties are. We’re glad they could be with you that day in spirit.

We loved how you both seamlessly bonded together your respective heritages and faiths in an artifact of a church near your homes, followed by your reception at (where else?) the Virginia Historical Society. It signified how much you value your roots here in Virginia. And the U.S. Constitution groom’s cake was the perfect touch. We heard several guess commenting on how that was so you guys.

The day was most certainly not all seriousness, however. Throughout there was this undercurrent of humor peeking around the corner periodically throughout until it just literally exploded at your reception. The toasts you had surrounding your cake were filled with so much laughter over past stories of your adventures separately and together. And certainly that wasn’t enough, as you enjoyed serenades (well, maybe that’s not such a precise term, but you were sang to with gusto) separately by your bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was such a sweet ending to such a fun evening, and we couldn’t be happier for you both. Congratulations!

Much love…

Dear l&a,

We love us some good emotion, and it came in utter spades on your wedding day–from laughter to happy tears. That, combined with your love of architecture with where you chose to tie the knot and celebrate with family and friends afterward, made for a wonderfully rewarding day. Looking back, we are grateful for many things from your celebration and the relationship we have developed with you both.

  • We love you are so thoroughly enraptured with each other you teared up when seeing each other for the first time that day. And then again just before walking down the aisle, Liz. In fact, we may have teared up a few times, as well.
  • Your moms. Oh, my goodness….could they be any sweeter? There was no way their smiles could be wiped off their faces that day. Just beautiful. We loved it. And wanted to adopt them. Can we please?
  • Although Meridian Hill park was particularly popular while there for your portraits, you plowed through the quinceaneras and family portraits all around you with nary a concern in the world.
  • You incorporated little personalized touches to the day, such as serving caviar during cocktail hour in a nod to acquiring the taste in your childhood, the oh-so-delicious Hungarian cookies (we have had one..okay, maybe two), and your friends’ beautiful voices in the choir singing before and during your ceremony.
  • Your dedication to design and simple beauty and how you incorporated that dedication in your decor and stationary. The textures and colors were like a beautiful kaleidoscope, especially in the late afternoon sun.
  • You’re so talented in the kitchen we were almost disappointed to not have you cooking things up that day. Thank goodness the Hay Adams staff was there to fill in for you. 🙂

Thank you so much for including us in your celebration, you two! We sincerely appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us and are honored to be part of your lives.
