Lindsey & Rob’s Mountain Wedding at Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Lindsey & Rob’s Mountain Wedding at Steamboat Springs, Colorado

The air at 9000 feet is always pretty crisp, and it wasn’t any different for Lindsey & Rob’s sunny Colorado wedding up at Steamboat Springs this fall. Their guests arrived at the mountain ceremony site via gondola and were treated to breathtaking views while the couple said their vows to one another. Not that anyone was looking at anything other than the happy couple, of course ;-). Talk about a breath of fresh air.

Our wish for every couple is that they have a wedding that feels like them where their friends and family can’t imagine them marrying any other way. Steamboat fit them to a tee, reflective of their adventures together (she hikes 14’ers in a day for fun, and their travels have taken them from Australia to Dubai. You might remember them from their relaxed Boulder County Fair and CU engagement session this Summer–we all had such a blast (plus some cotton candy). Check out a few of our favorite moments and images from their wedding, and of course their complete gallery. The password is Lindsey’s maiden name and is case-sensitive. Enjoy!

Dear l&r,

Some of our favorite moments from your wedding day are:
Your uncle’s quiet moments, Lindsey, stolen away from arriving guests as he prepared to officiate your ceremony. Lindsey, your dad’s emotions as he spoke during your ceremony, and the comfort your mom offered as he returned to his seat to witness the rest. In an only-in-Colorado-moment, a ready-made welcome committee of ultra-marathon race fans cheering you as you walked from the gondola to the start of your reception. Eschewing a more traditional (and some might say boring!) way to feed each other your first piece of cake, you instead tossed the pieces up in the air and each caught them in your mouths. Impressive! The peacefulness you had around your first dance. It was as if you were just lost in each other. Not sure what game it was, but the intensity with which your college friends kept their fingers intently on that beer was fun to watch.

Congratulations, you two and we look forward to sharing a beer sometime soon!

Julie & Michael’s Wedding at Congressional Cemetery

Julie & Michael’s Wedding at Congressional Cemetery

It’s the start of the wedding season, and it was so cool beginning things with a long-time former co-worker of Bill’s. Julie reached out to us this winter with the wonderful news of hers and Michael’s engagement, so we were doubly happy to return to the DC area to capture their laid-back wedding day. One of the things they did which we love is they both met and welcomed their guests as they arrived at the Congressional Cemetery chapel prior to the ceremony.  (She also walked down the aisle with her sister!) It gave the whole affair an easy-going start to the day and really set the mood for the evening’s festivities, held at Firefly Restaurant. And, it could not have been a more gorgeous Spring day.

Take a gander at some of our favorite moments from the day, then see their complete gallery. The password is Julie’s maiden name. Enjoy!

Dear j&m,

Some of the favorite moments we had from your wedding day include:
You could feel the moment blocks away of you two seeing each other for the first time that day on your front stoop. Your high-five with your sister just before getting dressed, Julie. The huge grins on your faces as you greeted your arriving guests prior to your ceremony. That look, Michael, you had on your face just as Julie appeared in the chapel’s doorway, ready to walk down the aisle. Holding on to Michael’s arm so tightly as you recessed following the ceremony, Julie, as if to say, “Never apart.” While not technically a moment, the perfect weather–loved it! And finally, the toasters. Wow. The toasters. We had no idea, Michael.

Congratulations, you two!

Best of 2013 – Anne’s Faves of Bill’s

Before things really get cranking in 2014, let’s take a quick look back at some of our favorite moments and images from our 2013 weddings! It was so insanely difficult narrowing down our selections to just 25 (seemed like a reasonable number taken from the 14,983 photos we delivered last year to happy clients). Today we’re looking at some of Anne’s favorite images that Bill captured from the past year. Thanks so much for all our incredible, loving, and happy couples for sharing these moments so we could capture them!

Sam & Casey’s Wedding at Panorama Farms

We very frequently become friends with our clients if we didn’t know them before, and sometimes our clients start out as employees (as Eric did when he married Lora at Clifton Inn). So we were absolutely thrilled when our former production assistant, Sam, reached out to let us know she had recently gotten engaged to Casey. It was so nice gathering at the picturesque Panorama Farms just north of Charlottesville for their wedding, even if it was 87 degrees in October! As you can see, the happy couple kept their cool throughout their blissful day. Check out our favorite images from the day, then their complete gallery. Dear s&c,

Some of our favorite moments from your wedding include:

Maximizing your use of any breeze (or air conditioning, whatever the environment) to cool off before your ceremony. The laughter with both your bridesmaids and groomsmen throughout the afternoon. Nearly everything called for at least a smile. Your incredibly touching and tender First Sight. Seeing hot air balloons off in the distance after your ceremony. Your sister, Sam, serenading the two of you during your first dance. Your dad’s band playing tirelessly throughout the night. The quiet way you two slipped off by yourselves to feed each other cupcakes in lieu of cake (yup, we saw you!). The extreme close-up photo your dad took of you, Sam, and Casey during family portraits. Your hugs.

We couldn’t be happier that you have found each other and so honored you chose us to capture these memories for you. Congratulations, you two!

Friday’s FAB Finds {030}

Happy Friday! Since Summer is officially over (A says yea, B says boo, but since A is writing this, she automatically wins – YEA for sweater weather!), FAB Find’s has finally come back from vacay and will be making periodic appearances when we’ve found some fun FAB Finds to share with you! We’ve still got lots of awesome late Summer and Fall weddings to share with you, so FAB may step aside every now and then to make room for some great real wedding action, too. 🙂

Ideas We Love – Photo Booth Props

So now that you’re getting SnapHappy, you might want to supplement your photo booth fun with props! Here are just a few super cute ideas sure to get your guests out of their seats!

Chalkboard Quote Bubbles

I saw these a while back on one of the wedding blogs and couldn’t wait to share them with you. Just think of the possibilities! Sweet wishes from Gramma, dueling chalkboard quotes and proof of which one of your groomsmen was clearly knocked out of the first round in the Spelling Bee!

You can buy them pre-made from Photojojo….or if you’re feeling especially crafty (or thrifty), you can make your own! Seriously, they could not be more easy. Check out the directions here! Thanks to Jordan Fereney of the lovely Oh Happy Day! blog for the tips! (Did you know they make chalkboard contact paper?! That is seriously cool!)

Smitten Sticks!

Nikki & Josh used Smitten Sticks! in their homemade fabric back-dropped Polaroid photobooth at their wedding this past May.

The ever fabulous Pam Barefoot and her fantastic team got in on the action, too!

LOVE these custom made bow-tie sticks!

You can find Smitten Sticks! where else, on Etsy of course! See what those fabulous ladies can create just for you. 🙂

Smitten Sticks! and the Chalk Board Quote Bubbles are some of the more well documented photo props on the wedding blogs, but there are a wide range of possibilities. Just check out Etsy for some more great options such as these:

Of course, feather boas, funky hats and big sunglasses are obvious and hilarious choices, but how about setting out bubbles, mardi gras beads or empty antique art frames for your guests to play with. We’d LOVE to see those pics! If you want props that are more unique (ie. your friends are unlikely to have in their wedding photo booth), add props that personify you both as individuals and/or as a couple. How about foam fingers from your favorite sports team(s), if you love going to the circus when it’s in town, how about some clown wigs and noses? You could also use your favorite stuffed animals from when you were kids, or if you’re going to Hawaii for your honeymoon, how about Hawaiian Lei’s? Truly the possibilities are endless – you and your guests are guaranteed to have fun with whatever props you choose even if if you decide to not use any, as guests will often make their own! Trust us on that one. 🙂

Happy Weekend, ya’ll!
