How often do you have a wedding that has a tornado warning accompanying it? Or penguin decorated champagne flutes? How about on the same day? Such was Cristina & Adam’s recent Charlottesville wedding. Check out a few of our faves from the first part of the day below, and tune in this afternoon for part 2, where we continue the party at Veritas Vineyard. (And next week to see some fun pics from the SnapHappy booth!) Enjoy!

Because of Cristina’s love of penguins, her sisters “waddled” down the aisle!

We all waited out the tornado warning in the church basement and Adam’s adorable niece provided endless entertainment!

Finally, we could go to the Rotunda!

The sun even peeked through for a few seconds!

Dear c&a,
Well, you know how to plan a great event for your family & friends! Not only did you choose such meaningful venues, you scheduled lots of time for photos between your early afternoon ceremony and your late afternoon reception, meaning that you got to visit with everyone during your cocktail hour. So smart in our humble opinion. 😉
You certainly had an exciting weather day, too, what with a various, wind-fueled downpours that morning and a tornado warning in the afternoon! It all turned out well, even with the long-planned trip out to the University of Virginia’s Grounds for a few portraits with the two of you, with the sun actually peeking miraculously through the clouds for a few brief minutes. What luck!
We loved the various personal touches you added to your ceremony and reception, such as the penguin-walk your sisters did during the processional (injecting wonderful levity into your touching ceremony), the custom-painted champagne flutes, the assortment of quality microbrews available to your guests, and of course the fun SnapHappy photo booth really made your event one to remember what with all the fun props your mom brought, Adam. It was fun too listening to some of the stories told about you both as kids and your college years by your siblings and best friends during your toasts, too. We’re glad we could be there to document all the fun and celebrating! Thank you again for having us out to celebrate with you and your families.
xoxo…
