Today’s image is named “Blue Ridge” and…most viewers might look at the image above and think, “Oh, that’s clearly the Blue Ridge Mountains,” which look cleverly similar. Amazingly, it hails instead from the Pacific Northwest at Crater Lake National Park. It was late in the afternoon on a slightly hazy day with minimal winds. We’d just finished taking pictures of Phantom Ship island in otherworldly ethereal conditions (stay tuned for its appearance soon) and were driving around the west side of the park to explore Pumice Castle when I paused to look west and saw this amazing layering of mountain ridges stretching in the late-afternoon light as far as the eye could see.
You never know what comes into focus when you stay open to the possibilities.
