Just downhill from the Continental Divide in Glacier National Park is a fave hangout spot for mountain goats. One afternoon during our trek, we spied a female adult confidently descending a nearby cliff. What we didn’t also see at the time were its two playful offspring, until they emerged tentatively from some thick underbrush just a few steps away

At first, the babies were pretty shy and unused to the attention, while their mom stood protectively nearby. Yet after a while, like human kids, they’d had enough of standing still and commenced to jumping back and forth between giant boulders, hopping over one another in the process. They sure were having a good time, and watching them, so were we, grateful for having a long zoom lens with us.

It’s easy to get bogged down in life’s daily grind (it feels like that sometimes, doesn’t it?) and forget for a moment we were built for fun. That it’s not only ok, but preferable to find and enjoy the humor in things around us. Just like when we were little.

One of my personal goals this year is to consciously make space for more fun. What’s something fun you could do today?
