We’re not kayakers. Well, at least not whitewater kayakers. But it sure is fun watching skilled paddlers take on eye-popping rides like Benham Falls. It’s along the Deschutes River near picturesque Bend, Oregon. This group repeatedly hiked upriver to put in, paddle their hearts out all through the falls, get out at the bottom, and hike back up again.
And again.
And again.
With nothing but smiles on their faces.
They were hooting and hollering and cheering each other on. Their encouragement (literally, to give someone heart), lifted them all, and pushed each to the edge of their skillset.
It’s amazing what we can accomplish when someone gives us heart. Moreover, the lift we get ourselves simply by encouraging someone else is not insignificant. Makes one wonder why we don’t do it more often.
